Amazing video of just some of the technologies we are using to repair our oh so frail forms. I have a personal interests in this, but frankly, this should be something thought about and funded by everyone. This is evolutionary technology.
Ok, so its true, Apple released their rumored iphone, and I must say, it is damn impressive. I have long said that the future of computer interface was multi-touch displays, think Minority report, but not quite as high tech. Recently, an MIT researcher revealed a large format touch screen, with impressive results. Today, Apple revealed a miniature version. The iphone uses multi-touch controls for the whole thing, again, with impressive results. Part phone, part ipod video, and smart phone, it frankly does damn near everything, and probably will do everything once people start writing programs for it. The only flaws I have seen; it is strictly a cingular phone service, and it is $499, that is WITH a two-year contract!! Hell I would be tempted to buy the thing if it wasn’t for the contract issue, sigh.

Ok, so I have joined the youTube generation. I have been playing with movie editing and uploading the amatuer results to youtube. Even have our own youtube page now, http://youtube.com/globaltrickster
So far there is only a few videos of my own, one of Tanya with the pet snakes, and my little genius reading at age five. (only a few more years to global domination…so proud)
Also there are videos that I have “bookmarked” for mutual enjoyment. I will start using this more, adding funny videos, etc. as time goes on. If I did this right, videos I produce should appear as blog posts as well…we’ll see.

Yet more proof that mankind is doomed to self-destruction from their own stupidity. Hundreds of insane people waited in line for the Playstation 3 recently. That is a little crazy but ok, I can see it. However, for the guy who quit his job to wait in line, for the guy who canceled his wedding, for the many many people who fought each other and shot each other for this expensive TOY! All of you must immediately kill yourselves and spare the gene pool, please. There was one shining moment of hope in this dark hour, the wonderful people in this video below;

A few interesting websites with Flash movies that respond to what you type.
This one is a search engine, but with an actress responding to your search terms, go ahead, type anything, get a funny response usually. Type “ho” until she goes off on you, funny as hell.
This one is specialized, its a bartender that responds to questions, etc. But the stories behind the drinks are the funniest.

Below is a post sent from my 43 things page, something new I am trying out, it is an interesting idea, similiar to what I am thinking of starting, sort of….

Slashdot | Blackboard Patenting Educational Groupware:
“Online learning provider Blackboard announced the other day that it has patented the Learning Management System (LMS). The very same day it went after Desire2Learn for Patent infringement in a truly Salt Lake City kinda way. A great many educators are a bit shook up by this, and are stockpiling prior art all over the place. “
This will be an interesting article for teachers to read. I used blackboard to help teach a writing course, its ok, perhps had more potential than I used. However, the key here is what are they locking up? Is the LMS just an all-encompassing design? I’ve read quite a few ridiculous patents coming out of the US office lately, so it wouldn’t surprise me. What if you make your own LMS with a little AJAX and knowledge, will they come after you?
Finding a lot in reference to what I’m looking at with the thesis. So created another Google notebook, linked here and to the left, that will have copies of my findings. There is a reading list section, examples, etc. The Kairos journal has been a nice inspiration, forgot about it for a while. Its interesting because the concept of kairos ties in a bit with what I’m looking at web 2.0 for, the kairic nature of the technology if you will.

Sorry, no posts today, webserver went down, and hard. There was hellfire and brimstone flying into the eyes of sys admin as they fought the demons. Or…an update overwrote some customized FD_SETSIZE limits and fucked everything up. After much recompiling by the heroes in black, Apache is behaving again. But damn! what a day…sigh.

Ever the adventurous one, I have once more ventured forth and sacrificed my own time and energy to explore some new Internet technology for you. Well, not really new, but interesting, maybe it will bring in more hits. Its called Squidoo. Using what looks like Ajax, the site is another social web 2.0 site, in the same theme as myspace, except not as juvenile. You become a Lensmaster, and create a Lens with modules. These modules are “sights” into other locations of the web. You can add links, RSS feeds, Flickr images, etc, to your Lens and share with the world. You can do the same with other sites out there, however, I do have to say that Squidoo makes it so very simple. Mine is here, and also on the right of the page.
